PLEASE NOTE: Submissions that include disclosures of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking, will not initiate formal University action under Title IX requirements, with the exception of a disclosure of child abuse or imminent danger. Individuals who wish to report an incident of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking, may contact the university Title IX Coordinator, Brian Gnandt at bgnandt@calpoly.edu. The GEC is working with Safer to include testimonies regarding these topics, and will be sure to incorporate these experiences in the show. If you have questions/concerns, please contact the genderequitycenter@calpoly.edu

Is "Cal Poly's OWN" only in English?

Submissions can be in any language. We encourage students to submit work using whatever language(s) they feel most accurately convey their experiences. Submissions can be written entirely in whatever language you want, or can have phrases or words of different languages sprinkled throughout the piece. If you are open to your piece being presented in a different language other than English, please indicate so on the application.*

If you would like your piece to be performed in a different language, please submit an English version along with a version in the language of your choice via the application. If you are not able to translate it, the Editors will try to find someone to translate it for you.

*Having your submission performed in the language specified is contingent upon finding a cast member who can perform it in that language.

Can I be chosen as the cast member to perform the piece I submit?

Yes, this is totally a possibility. Submissions will have to go through the audition process in order to be fair and equitable to others who wish to audition for the production. The Production Team and Directors holding the auditions will try their best to accommodate your request, however it is not guaranteed.

Will all submissions be incorporated into the script for "Cal Poly's OWN"?

Unfortunately not all submissions will be selected due to time restrictions and content. However, all submissions will be considered and possibly incorporated in future productions. If your submission is chosen for the show, you will be notified by the committee, whether it is used for segments or as a whole. The committee will give individual credit for each submission, unless requested to be kept anonymous; they will be in contact with participants throughout the process.

Will I be given credit if my submission is chosen or can I remain anonymous?

If your submission is chosen for the show, you will be notified by the committee, whether it is used for segments or as a whole. The committee will give individual credit for each submission, unless requested to be kept anonymous; they will be in contact with participants throughout the process.
