Faculty and staff are encouraged to join our Pride Faculty Staff Association.

University Housing

Cal Poly University Housing partners with students to create a living-learning environment that encourages academic and personal development for a diverse community. Residential Life and Education provide learning outside of the classroom that complements the learning taking place in the classroom in an engaging living-learning environment,  which include explorations from academics to career, life skills, and leadership for social change.

Some specific housing options available to members of the LGBTQ+ community include:

  • Pride Living-Learning Communities
    • Living-learning communities (1st year, and continuing/transfer) for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ+) identified students and their allies that specializes in strong community, leadership and identity development and education on issues pertaining to sexual and gender diversity at Cal Poly and in the San Luis Obispo community.  This living option features gender-inclusive assignments, gender-inclusive restrooms, and programmatic offerings through the Pride Center.
  • Gender Inclusive Clusters
    • We recognize that many students would be more comfortable living with other members of the LGBTQ+ community and/or in housing options inclusive of all genders, gender identities, and expressions (not gendered into male and female spaces).  These clusters are intentional communities throughout our residential communities designed to meet this need and feature gender-inclusive assignments, gender-inclusive restrooms, and programmatic offerings through the Pride Center.

For more information about these and other University Housing options, visit University Housing.

Study Abroad

The Pride Center partners with the International Center to provide tips and resources for study abroad.  For more information on being LGBTQ+ and traveling abroad, visit Inclusivity and Diversity: Study Abroad.

Scholarships

There are several national scholarships available to LGBTQ+ students.  To learn more, visit our Campus Pride LGBTQ+ Scholarship Database.
