The Cross Cultural Centers currently have five students who hold the Graduate Assistant (GA) position. They are in charge of maintaining the centers through professionalism, planning and operating events, and working with both student assistants as well as professional staff to perform assigned tasks.
Working in the center provides graduate assistants the opportunity to work in a fast-paced setting that puts the principle of “Learn by Doing” into action. Our graduate assistants gain experience in leadership, team-work, and professionalism. They develop independency and self-motivational skills through a variety of assigned projects. We would like our GAs to explore new technologies, applications and materials in different areas so as to gain knowledge in different aspects of work.
Our centers highly value diversity, social justice and cultural competency. All of our staff, graduate assistants and student assistants share a common goal in developing a safe, welcoming and hopeful environment for all Cal Poly students who come from a different background, race, religion or ethnicity
